Youth Olympic Mascot Design

The host city for this Youth Olympic Games is Xi'an, located in Shaanxi Province, China. Xi'an is an ancient city with a rich history. From the 11th century BC to the mid-10th century AD, it served as the capital for 13 dynasties. Many emperors, including King You of Zhou, Emperor Qin Shi Huang, Emperor Gaozu of Han, Emperor Yang of Sui, and Emperor Taizong of Tang, spent their life here. This Youth Olympic Games will focus on the inclusive and open-minded Tang Dynasty, bringing the world the sports, aesthetics, and culture of the great Tang from the East.

Chang'an and Changle are two little cats from Xi'an. Chang'an is an orange tabby, while Changle is a Jianzhou cat. As palace household supervisors, they are inseparable friends, with their daily duties mainly consisting of catching mice. They enjoy equestrian sports, archery on horseback [Dogback?], and cuju (ancient Chinese football). As the mascots of the Xi'an Youth Olympic Games, they bring traditional Tang Dynasty sports and attire to the world.
